About me

Ollie Brown is a web developer from Oxford, UK. He likes solving problems with PHP and MySQL and crafting web pages with HTML and CSS. He also enjoys writing about himself in the third person.

What's the story?

I grew up in the wonderful city of Hull where I discovered that I quite liked science and that I wasn't very good at playing the piano.

In 2004 I arrived at Nottingham University. Three years later I graduated with a degree in Physics, a beard and a taste in music. Along the way, I found out that making websites was quite good fun...

What do you do now?

Since 2008, I've been working as a web developer for UCCF: The Christian Unions. I spend most of my days coding PHP and MySQL, templating with Smarty and writing standards-compliant HTML and CSS.

And when you're not doing that?

I'm drinking Earl Grey and listening to music, preferably. I also like strolling in the countryside, riding my bike and watching cricket in the sunshine.

Any other useful skills?

I know which way up a mixing desk goes, and I've run the big-screen visuals at a couple of fairly large conferences. I also know how to grow a potato, fix a puncture and make a camera obscura.
